Grace

Red was sitting on the edge of the bed when we came out, my bedroom door firmly closed. I swallowed the tiniest surge of panic it sent through me, despite the fact that I knew I couldn’t fuck someone with the door wide open and my worst enemy sleeping down the hall.

Still.

“Gods below, how the fuck am I supposed to have a serious conversation with the two of you standing there like that?” Red said, mouth hanging open so far I could see the length of his fangs. A shiver of excitement raced through me.

Would he bite me?

Did I want him to?

The needy throbbing between my legs said fuck yes.

“Serious conversation?” Zeke repeated, frowning and crossing his arms over his chest. “That’s ominous. I thought we were fucking.”

Red moved so fast he was practically a blur. He had Zeke on his lap before I could even react, one hand pressed over the demon’s mouth. Zeke looked caught between being turned on by the move and indignant that he’d been silenced.

I couldn’t help the laugh that bubbled out of me.

“Now that he’s quiet for once in his godsdamned life, we do need to talk before we do anything, Grace. I know you don’t know me very well, but I promise you can trust me with this.”

My eyebrows shot up to my hairline. “Uh, okay. I’m spelled against pregnancy if that’s what you’re worried about.” Mythics couldn’t catch STIs like humans, so aside from pregnancy, there was nothing else I could think of to be worried about.

“We can get spelled too,” he replied immediately, nodding. “It hasn’t been an issue given that we’ve only been with each other and Eli, but I can hire a green witch within the week.”

The shock must’ve shown on my face because Zeke pulled free of his grip and rolled his eyes. “Gods, Red, you’re going to scare her! Stop being so fucking intense.”

I shook my head. “No, no, it’s good. Thank you. I appreciate it, really. I just didn’t realise this would be like…a thing, you know? That you’d want to keep doing.”

We hadn’t even done anything yet and already my brain was panicking over how the fuck we’d hide it from Harlow and Eli. Not that I thought either of the others could hide anything from them. Would it isolate me even more?

“Red, you help her relax and I’ll do the fucking talking,” Zeke demanded, brows furrowed as he stood and stared the vampire down. Red’s eyes gleamed as he nodded, extending his hand for me to put mine in.

I did, letting him pull me onto the mattress. I was still slightly wary of him, but fuck he was attractive and he truly had seemed to feel bad while he was showing me around earlier.

“Can I touch you, Grace?” he asked softly, hand hovering over my waist like he was scared to do anything wrong. My heart fluttered at his carefulness, especially given the way I’d heard him talk to Zeke in the hallway.

“Yes,” I answered, but it came out breathy as I met his gaze.
